About Dr. Katherine Rounce

Head of the Work Based Learning and Accreditation Unit within the School of Health and Social Sciences which was established in 2003. The Unit now has an active accreditation programme and offers awards for students from NVQ to Doctorate levels. Katherine first became aware of Work Based Learning whilst a Course Director for Women's Health in the North London College of Health Studies, prior to joining Middlesex University. She quickly saw the potential for this amongst health staff and led the first development of the subject into a traditional School of the University. She led the development and validation of the Doctorates in Professional Studies in Health and Environment that are now highly successful programmes. Katherine is committed to development of best practice both within the university and the Health and Social Care sectors and has served as a Non-Executive Director of a Family Health Service Authority, Non-Executive of a District Health Authority and as a member of a Community Health Council. Currently she is a member of the DoH Mental Health Workforce Development team and is a Chair of an NHS Continuing Care Appeals Panel.
